Ask your AI assistant about European electricity pricing

The tounify MCP server lets an AI assistant answer questions about European electricity pricing and about integrating the tounify API — how a market builds its price, which parameters a request needs, how to read a response — from our reviewed market write-ups and live coverage figures instead of from its training data.

What your assistant can do with it

The assistant picks the tool from your question — you never call one by name.

Explain a market

How a country stacks supply, network charges, taxes and levies, who sets each layer, and which request parameters that makes essential.

explain_country_pricing

Explain an API concept

What a parameter, a response field, a unit or a plan term means, answered from the published reference.

explain_api_concept

Check a request before you send it

Flags the requests that would return a valid-looking but incomplete price, such as a missing network layer.

lint_dayahead_request

Diagnose a response

Explains an error status, an empty series or a price that looks off, and says what to change.

diagnose_response

Check coverage

Whether tounify holds data for a country and tariff direction, read live rather than from memory.

check_coverage

Describe a connection

Which properties of a customer's grid connection matter in a country, and the values each can take there.

explain_connection_properties

Plan an integration

The ordered calls for your country and use case, with the polling rhythm and what to assert on.

build_integration_recipe

Size your plan

Turns a described integration into a monthly call estimate and the plan that fits it.

estimate_usage

Keep it working

Writes a CI test that catches a missing price layer or a retired tariff before your users do.

Questions to try

  • “Why does Germany need a grid tariff?”
  • “I'm about to request German day-ahead prices with just a consumption tariff and include=fees. Will that give me the full price?”
  • “I'm getting 400 unknown tariff id, but I copied the id from your companies response.”
  • “Do you cover Polish grid fees?”
  • “5,000 heat pumps polling hourly — which plan do we need?”
  • “How do I stop my integration breaking silently?”

Good to know

  • It works with your tounify account: your assistant asks you to sign in once and approve the connection, and clients without a sign-in flow send one of your API tokens instead.
  • Every account gets a free allowance of tool calls; the plans whose pricing card lists the MCP server include it without limit.
  • Read-only: it explains, checks and plans, and never returns electricity prices — those come from the REST API.
  • Do not paste credentials or personal data into a question.

The endpoint is https://mcp.tounify.io. How it handles data is described in the privacy policy.

Ready for the prices themselves?

The MCP server explains; the REST API delivers the tariffs. The same tounify account gives you a free testing token the moment you register.
